Hurricanes
“Sometimes you just have to bow your head, say a prayer, and weather the storm…”
Ever since man began sailing the deep waters, Hurricanes had been the darkest nightmare of every soul over the shifting waters.
Over the years, these cyclops monsters have swallowed 1000s of ships and planes that dared to cross their paths. They say the shortest ones are the strongest ones.
If clouds are gathering thick and fast,
Keep a sharp lookout for sail and mast,
But if they slowly onward crawl,
Shoot your lines, nets, and trawl,
When the wind is blowing in the North,
No fisherman should set forth,
When the wind is blowing in the East,
‘Tis not fit for man nor beast,
When the wind is blowing in the South
It brings the food over the fish’s mouth,
When the wind is blowing in the west,
That is when the fishing’s best!
The hurricane that brought down the Hornet was an abrupt one with a gust force of 149 miles/hr that dissipated within 32 hrs.
